Valentine Q. Mouse by Francis Wales

  1. Cut a large heart shape from a piece of folded paper.
  2. With the heart folded, glue on a heart-shaped paper ear and eye.
  3. Add whiskers and a tail.
  4. Write a Valentine greeting inside!

  1. To make the patter, fold a piece of paper in half and cut out a heart shape. Then cut a heart shape from the middle of the first heart, leaving a border.
  2. Place the pattern on a piece of black paper, and tract areound the outside AND inside of the heart with a pencil. Cut out the hearts.
  3. On white paper, tract around just the outside of the heart pattern. Cut out the hearts, and color them with markers or paint. When dry, glue each colored heart between two of the black heart borders, along with a piece of thread. Hang the hearts in a window.

 

Patchwork Valentine Card by Juanita Havill

  1. For the card, fold in half a piece of construction paper. Fold it in half again. Then unfold the card.
  2. Draw a heart in the lower right hand square.
  3. Cut out the heart with scissors.
  4. Fold the paper in half again so the heart opening is on the outside. With a pencil, trace the heart shape on the square beneath.
  5. Unfold the card again, and glue small pieces of different colored fabric, side by side, to fill the heart shape. The pieces of fabric may extend beyond the traced heart shape.
  6. Dot glue around the outside of the fabric heart.
  7. Refold to form the card, pressing the cut-out heart section over the fabric heart.
  8. Write a message on the inside!

 

Valentine's Day Placemat by S. Peoples

  1. Place a sheet of red construction paper 12 by 18 inches lenthwise in front of you.
  2. Cut vertical slits 10 1/2 inches long and 2 1/2 inches apart.
  3. Using white paper, cut three strips 2/1/2 inches by 18 inches. Weave them in and out of the slits on the red paper to form a checkerboard effect.
  4. Decorate the white squares with red hearts!

 

Sweetheart Basket by Jan M. VanPelt

  1. Tape red tissue paper onto the outside of a plastic berry basket.
  2. For the handle, twist a red and white pipe cleaner together and poke the ends through each side of the basket. Twist the ends of the pipe cleaners, attaching them to the basket.
  3. Decorate the basket with paper doilies, paper hearts and ribbons.
  4. Fill the basket with snacks!
